Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Nagar Jatra handles information when you use the Nagar Jatra Passenger App and related digital public-transport services.
Information we process
Depending on the feature used, this can include name, mobile number, email address, authentication information, QR-ticket and fare details, NFC-card linkage and transaction records, student-verification details and submitted images, complaint/support content and photos, emergency-request information, app/security diagnostics, and location when a location feature is used.
Guest QR tickets
Passengers can buy supported regular-fare QR tickets without creating an account. Name, phone number and transaction/ticket information supplied for that purchase are processed to initiate payment, issue and retrieve the ticket, handle disputes and prevent misuse. Recent guest tickets may be stored securely on the device.
Location and emergency requests
Location is requested only for features that need it, such as nearby-stop functions and a user-initiated emergency request. During an active emergency request, the app may run a foreground location service and continue sharing available device location while the emergency remains active. Android displays a persistent notification while this is happening. The Passenger App does not request Android background-location permission.
Payments
Payments are processed through supported payment service providers. Nagar Jatra may receive transaction references, payment status, amount, payment method metadata and related confirmation needed to issue tickets, recharge cards, process reissue fees, prevent fraud and resolve disputes. Payment providers also process data under their own policies.
Student half-fare
Student-verification information and images are used to assess eligibility, administer the benefit and prevent fraud. Student documents should only contain the information requested by the app.
How information is used
We use information to operate and secure accounts; verify phone numbers; issue and validate tickets; manage NFC services; provide recharge/reissue functions; provide student benefits; respond to complaints and support requests; operate emergency features; maintain security/audit records; prevent fraud; troubleshoot service reliability; and comply with applicable law.
Sharing
Information may be disclosed to authorized Nagar Jatra personnel, participating transport operators when operationally necessary, payment/technical service providers acting to provide the service, and competent authorities where legally required. Nagar Jatra does not sell passenger personal information to advertisers.
Security
Nagar Jatra uses HTTPS, authenticated access, encrypted local storage for sensitive Passenger App session/ticket material, access controls and security monitoring. No electronic system can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
Passenger App account data is kept while the account is active and as reasonably necessary for service, security, disputes and legal obligations. A passenger can request account deletion from Profile → Delete account in the app or through the web account-deletion page. App-account profile data and app-only data are deleted; financial, ticket, fraud-prevention or transport-operation records may be retained when reasonably required for accounting, dispute resolution, security or legal obligations and are de-identified where practicable. Deleting the app account does not automatically cancel or destroy a separately issued physical NFC card or its legally/operationally required transit records.
Your choices
You can use supported guest features without an account, control Android location/notification permissions in device settings, update profile information in the app, and request account deletion.
Children and students
Where a minor uses a feature, the user and, where required, a parent or guardian should ensure that appropriate consent exists for submitted information.
